Karen Barton is a versatile Wyoming artist known for her award-winning portraits and wildlife scenes inspired by her rural upbringing and ranching roots. With a background in graphic design and early success in portraiture, she now works in various mediums to bring a unique perspective to the beauty already present in God’s world.

Her accolades include Best of Show at the 2024 National Juried Show at the SAGE Gallery in Sheridan, WY, and the Big Horn Audubon Award at the Brinton Museum’s 2023 national juried show. Her most recent award is Best of Show, first place, and people’s choice awards in the Heart of the Frontier Show by Skillman Gallery, Greybull WY 2026. Karen’s work is represented in galleries both locally and regionally.

Karen states, "I paint the wildlife of the Northwest using bold, unexpected colors that blur the line between realism and imagination. With over 30 years of experience in portraiture, I aim

to capture depth, personality, and presence—sometimes through strict realism, other times through expressive color and texture. My work is deeply personal and rooted in my faith, reflecting the creativity of the God to whom I owe my very life."
